Brayden Misiolek (he/him) earned his Bachelor’s degree in Political Theory & Constitutional Democracy with a minor in Philosophy & Law from Michigan State University. He is the co-founder and Executive Director of a trans-led non-profit organization, Transcend the Binary. Transcend’s mission is to empower the trans and gender diverse community through linkage to integrated and affirming services, resources, and education. His specialized focus is on community-led research initiatives and he has served as a research team lead and team member on projects exploring trans and gender diverse communities’ experiences of discrimination, health and wellness, relationships, and access to care. Mr. Misiolek pioneered and co-facilitated the inaugural Trans Research Health Advisory Board (2018-2019), which resulted in a framework for community-driven methodologies. As co-investigator of the Michigan Trans Health Survey, he helped create a benchmark health report, identified health disparities and gaps in access to care. MTHS was foundational to developing the Trans-Inclusive Provider Scale, which has been published in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine. He has led the development of interactive learning exhibits, as well as training for pharmacists, healthcare professionals, and allies. His work and care models have been presented nationally. Mr. Misiolek believes in the power of collective impact and uplifting trans leaders.
